At a recent meeting of the York & District Ladies Squash Committee the trial of a new Premier League for the forthcoming 2019/2020 season was agreed. The new Premier League will be in addition to Y&DLSL league matches and is aimed at players of a standard no less than the former Division 1* standard. For your information, the decision has been made to consolidate from 3 divisions down to 2 divisions* for the 2019-20 season (it is expected that there will be 9 teams in division I and 8 teams in division II with Dunnington to field 2 teams – 1 in each division).

It is proposed that the new Premier League teams will consist of 3 (rather than 5) players playing home and away across the season, best of 5 games, with the usual (“English”) scoring system.

This new Premier League would run over and above Y&DLSL and any one of the 3 players would be entitled to play in Y&DLSL without penalty

If you would be interested in playing Y&DLSL (5 per team) squash in 2019/2020, and furthermore playing in this new Premier League (3 per team), please contact Susan Brench by email on no later than Friday 17th May . We need expressions of interest asap so that the committee can finalise the leagues and have the fixtures sorted in time for the AGM which will take place on Monday 10th June.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with Susan if you have any questions.

Thank you!
